Meet the Crew

David Skrzecz

Dave Skrzecz is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces veteran with more than 23 years of service, including deployments to central and South America and Afghanistan. During his tenure with the 7th Special Forces Group, he served several years on a maritime operations team, honing skills in navigation, vessel operations, coastal and riverine operations.

Before his military career, Dave grew up boating and fishing along the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic coasts of Maryland and Virginia—an early connection to the water that continues to shape his life and mission today.

Dave now resides in Madison, Alabama, close to the Tennessee River, where he remains active in the veteran community and leads initiatives through Veterans Against Suicide Inc.

Michael “Buch” Bucher

Michael “Buch” Bucher is a U.S. Air Force Security Forces veteran with over 20 years of service, including 17 years in Europe specializing in law enforcement and security operations.

Bucher was a key member of rapid deployment teams supporting missions across Europe and Africa. Following military retirement, Buch led law enforcement, security, and maritime operations for the Kwajalein Police Department at the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.

Bucher currently manages government contracts nationwide and is based in Huntsville, Alabama where he routinely enjoys boating on the Tennessee River.

Travis Vlasoff

Travis Vlasoff is a retired commercial fisherman with more than 30 years of experience operating in the open waters of the Pacific Northwest. A career focused on remote fishing off the coast of Alaska has developed Travis skills in vessel operations, maritime project planning, and marine safety.

As a tribal member of an Alaska coastal community, Travis also has 45 years of experience with all-season, deep water boating to support traditional subsistence activities.

Travis now resides in Huntsville, Alabama, close to the Tennessee River, where he volunteers time to Veterans Against Suicide, Inc.
