A mission of awareness and action.

Freedom Fighter: The Great American Loop Project is a national awareness mission by Veterans Against Suicide. A former 25-foot U.S. Coast Guard SAFE Boat Defender has been returned to service to race the 6,000-mile America’s Great Loop, connecting communities, honoring fallen veterans, and raising awareness of veteran suicide prevention.

Refit and returned to service, The Freedom Fighter now represents second chances, resilience, and continued service beyond the uniform. Each mile traveled supports education, advocacy, and access to mental health resources for veterans and their families.

With a three-person crew, we are preparing to attempt a record for fastest circumnavigation of America’s Great Loop. Every mile traveled is a reminder of the 17 veterans that die by suicide each day and a call to action to prevent further loss.
